The Forms of Water
The cycle
Water –
a giver of life,
a source of refreshment,
a quencher of thirst,
awakening grass,
filling rivers and lakes – it accompanies us throughout life, reminding us of its importance and necessity.
A glass of water,
a refreshing summer rain,
the waves of a stormy sea, or
the soothing dance of snowflakes – all are forms of the same water, each reminding us of its constant presence by our side.
The cycle Forms of Water was created during a summer spent in Lithuania Minor, in the village of Šnaukštai, under the shadows of old maples, surrounded by the scent of blooming lindens and songs of golden orioles. The technique used in creating these works demands great patience – stitching and tying the outlines, precision – dyeing the tied fabric, meticulousness – unraveling the threads after dyeing, and, of course, a lot of water.
